8th grade Career Ready students

8th grade Career Ready students learn a lot about soft skills, careers, postsecondary opportunities, resumes, interviewing skills, and how to be successful in high school in the quarter long class. One of the highlights of the class is when high school students join in for the day and give them the advice they wish they’d been given before high school! 8th grade students are able to ask whatever questions they have about high school and about things they can do now that will help them be successful. Some of the recommendations from this quarter’s high school students was to take a variety of classes so they can find out what they like best. They said it would help with career and college planning later on. They also recommended taking advantage of job shadows and college classes that are offered at Waukon High School to help you get a head start. One final key takeaway was to get involved right away in the many extracurriculars Waukon High School offers because it is a great way to get to know people and grow! Thank you to these High School students for showing up early to share their wisdom with the 8th graders!
