Waukon Future Business Leaders of America start planning for the Haunted Park in August. It is their biggest fundraiser and funds are used to send students to the state leadership conference in March. At the conference, students compete in a variety of events and also partake in workshops and other activities. This year, students took a larger leadership role with the Haunted Park event with advertising, lining up various sponsors, designing the map, finances, and coordinating workers among other things. At the September meeting, students made groups and decided the theme of their prospective areas. Throughout the month, they worked with their groups to determine needed supplies and the design. On the day of the event, students arranged their areas from 9 am to 3 pm. Guides then had time to learn the route and specifics from each group. This year was a record fundraiser bringing in over $4,500. Thank you to the Waukon Park Board and staff for allowing us to use the park once again!
